We had a client in Malvern, PA, reach out to our team wanting to upgrade their property. They have a lot of space to work with and wanted to create different areas for spending time outside while refreshing the landscape. To ensure we understood their goals, we started this project with extensive planning. This process involved discussing the different elements they wanted, where to put them, and the materials before creating a design. Once they approved that, we got to work bringing it to fruition! Various patios and retaining walls were installed throughout the property to maximize their outdoor space. Then, we finished by incorporating landscape beds with rocks and plants. We also spread seeds where the grass was damaged and covered them with straw for protection.

This property upgrade project was extensive, so we wanted to ensure we gave our client exactly what they wanted. To do this, we started with the comprehensive planning of the different elements. We discussed what they were looking for, which was to create various spaces for spending time outside and improve overall function and aesthetic. These areas included the front entrance to the house, the wooden deck, the space underneath an overhang, and the back entrance.

We collaborated with them to determine the best way to maximize these areas on their property, along with the materials we would use. Once we had a clear understanding of their expectations, we created a design. After our client approved this design, we got to work installing everything!

The next step was to install the various patios and retaining walls.

The next step of this project was to install the main elements: the various patios and retaining walls throughout the property! At the front entrance, we constructed a small patio landing with a surrounding retaining wall. Another patio was added at the base of their wooden deck and steps leading down from the house's overhang, which extended along the back where the entryways are. We also installed a retaining wall underneath the overhang that curved up to their fence to address the sloped yard and create flat land for another small patio. Concrete pavers for the patios and matching wall blocks for the retaining walls were utilized, ensuring durability and a cohesive look among these features.

We finished this project with landscaping and seeding to repair damaged grass.

With the patios and retaining walls complete, the finishing touches were put on this project. This included small landscape beds around these newly transformed spaces, which we filled with rocks and small, green plants to add some pops of color. Though minimal, they gave our client's yard a more complete, purposeful look. Additionally, we spread seeds where the grass was damaged during construction and covered them with straw to help keep them in place and shield them from the elements. Now, they have a more functional outdoor living area, allowing them to get the most out of it!
